Welcome to the Student Council blog! This is the place I will be sharing information with you. Please check it every day...because if we need to make decisions about next year's events, I will give you 24 hours to express your opinion before a decision is made. The first 3 posts will receive a candy bar at our next meeting. Thanks for leading!
Hey Mrs. Annette, i am here!!!
ReplyDeletei am very excited about next year!!!
Me, too! Great job for staying on top of what is happening, Nano...candy bar for you at the next meeting. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm here too
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm also glad about the new year
First girl here :)
ReplyDeleteWhy, yes you are, Angie...and, Noah, you are the first non-high school student, right?? Candy bar to each of you :-) We are gonna have sooo much fun together!
ReplyDeleteI have a question...how important on a scale of 1-10 would inside restrooms during retreat be to you? Post your comment in the next 24 hours to vote on this issue.
ReplyDelete5 for me, it doesn't really matter where the bathrooms are as long as their are bathrooms its all good :)
ReplyDeleteI would say like a 1. All I need is a bush.
ReplyDeleteI would say 5 also, at our retreat this last year no one really seemed to make a big deal that they were outside :)
ReplyDeleteFor me I only need a toilet. But that doesn't matter any more.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Everyone. Check the blog again on Monday night/Tuesday morning. I will have more information for you and you will have a chance to vote on some important issues. Good job, Leaders!
ReplyDeleteI would say 6
ReplyDeleteI would say 4 because I don't really care and nobody else seemed to mind that much! :)
ReplyDeleteHello, Leaders!
ReplyDeleteOK...visited two campgrounds today. They were both very different. And while I can see that the inside RR are not that important to all of you, I do think it is important to the chaperons (who had to get up several times each night to escort students to the RR). When the adults are gracious to go with us to retreat, we would like for them to be able to sleep at night ;-) Anyway, read the two following descriptions - and then sign in to vote for which campground you would prefer. You have 24 hours :-)
Sky Mountain: Found by Angie (and the camp directors really like you Angie :-)
ReplyDeleteThe grounds are beautiful. It has a beautiful lake - and cafeteria is right next to the lake with two sides of the cafeteria full windows. So the scenery is wonderful. The cabins have 8-11 in each room and inside restrooms. The chapel is a small A-frame building with electricity, but no sound system, etc. There is a fire pit, a volleyball net (not a volleyball court), a field...and this is probably one of your favorite items - a full (carpeted) gym. For pictures go to www.skymtncc.com. The cost is $100/student...HOWEVER...AND THIS IS IMPORTANT...we need a 50 camper minimum. We have 40 students. So, you would be raising $1000...in addition to whatever money is needed for the games, snacks, etc. The camp directors are great...and will hold our dates (Sept 28-30 - Wed noon thru Fri noon) for 24 hours.
Camp Alta: Found by Nano
ReplyDeleteAgain the area is beautiful. This campgrounds has a big lodge that would allow all the guys to stay in one room with one or two counselors and all the girls to stay in another room with one or two counselors - with inside RR's. The two big rooms are connected by a lounge area. This one has a full volleyball court (with sand), swimming pool, hiking, 2 outdoor arenas, a chapel with a sound system and screen, a small prayer chapel, a fire pit, 2 large fields (for capture the flag), a swimming pool. Also, they said the cafeteria staff would allow you to have input in the meal choices. The cost is $110/student...AND...no minimum numbers. Which means that you would only need to raise the funds for games, snacks, chaperons - and we would not need as many chaperons because all the students would stay in 2 rooms. For pictures go to www.campaltahomestead.com. We could to there Sept 14-16 or Sept 28-30...so we could actually go the second week of school (if we are all prepared for it). Again, they will hold the dates for 24 hours.
Now it's your turn...what do you all think??

ReplyDeleteI'm leaning towards Camp Alta, but they both seem really nice.
ReplyDeleteI think it's camp Alta for me :)
ReplyDeleteI say camp Alta.
ReplyDeleteya im going with the group, camp alta sounds fun.. Great Job Nano :))
ReplyDeleteHello, nice to join you all. They do both look nice. Mrs. Annette you were at both camp grounds. I say that what you say, is what I say:)
ReplyDeleteI'm always down for volleyball. and a good sound system:) Thanks for checking these places out. Great job Angie, and Nano!
I think maybe camp Alta, only problem is if we aren't ready by the second week of school :/
ReplyDeleteOK...it will be Camp Alta...next question...second week of school or fourth week of school. My suggestion is the second week of school because it allows everyone to get acquainted quickly...and it is usually warmer in the foothills earlier in September than it is later. We can plan the schedule out in our upcoming meetings. However, if you all prefer to wait til the fourth week, we can. Now it is your chance to share...
ReplyDeleteI say fourth week also, more time to prepare and have everyone settle in :)
ReplyDeleteI say second week because it is a good way for everybody to get to know each other more quickly.
ReplyDeleteI choose second week, because it lets new students make new friends. Also, since we have the camp picked out, do we still need to turn in our three camps?
ReplyDeleteGood question, Arden. And because you all are watching the blog, you get the answer first. No, we do not need to discuss campgrounds any longer and you do not need to submit your work on that. And it looks like it will be the second week. Just remember to submit all your other work...sermon notes, homecoming, banquet (if you haven't yet)...and sell those car wash pre-sale tickets. Thanks, Everyone!
ReplyDeleteFYI...keep watching the blog. You never know what we will need to decide next ;-)
ReplyDeleteOk thank you Mrs. Annette!
ReplyDeleteVery welcome, Mario (as Ella calls you)... ;-)
ReplyDeleteMrs. Annette I wont be able to go online for about a week I am going camping in Washington state so everyone choose wisely :)) God Bless You All :))
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure they pick the right thing Angie...
ReplyDeleteJK
Hey guys, this is going to be awesome, sorry I have not been on here I was gone for a week hiking, however I slightly remember sending the camp to mrs Annette however I do not fully remember. Mrs, Annette could you send me the email I sent you fir the camp so I will remember. Also I would like to encourage our team to start praying for God wants to do not only in our lives at the school but in the lives of the other students as well and how we can make the a great year all around. Thanks team love you all
ReplyDeleteGood catch, Nano. I thought I remembered you sending that...but you sent Diamond Arrow. So...to be fair, Angie will get extra credit for finding a place and following up on it to get all the information even though we didn't use it. And we can all thank Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Regules for Camp Alta :-) Go, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Regules. Very soon I will send you a compilation of all the information I have received for homecoming and banquets. You can review all of it so we can have a profitable discussion at our next meeting.
ReplyDeleteAnd I say, "Amen" to Nano's suggestion that we be praying seriously about the upcoming year. Remember, you are the change agents for the campus...and God will use you to do just that!
ReplyDeleteAND...enjoy your July 4th camping/celebrations!
ReplyDeleteYou enjoy yours to mrs.annette
ReplyDeleteHello, All. I just sent each of you an important email with a form to use for submitting your events. It is a Word doc. Let me know if you have any problems opening it. It also has very important information about deadlines and discussion topics. Be sure to read all of it ;-)

ReplyDeleteoki doki :))
ReplyDeleteOk, thank you! :)
ReplyDeletemake sure everyone that you do your assighnment
ReplyDeletetruly yours noah mcCutheon
Tell me what you think of this..."What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." -Pericles...when you look at it with I Corinthians 3:10-15. How do these fit together in your mind? It's your turn ;-)

ReplyDeleteEach day we are laying foundations. W must be sure that these foundations are everlasting and that when the fire comes that they will last.Christ is our rock and our foundation, we must be anchored in him. If we are anchored in Jesus and have a relationship with him, the things that we leave behind will be of Jesus. W then take our relationship with Jesus Christ and apply it to our earthly relationships so that we may recieve the reward that God has granted us in 1 Corinthians 3:14.
ReplyDeleteI believe what this says is that we need to make a lasting impression on the new age of people so that they will be able to make a part of the building which will withstand the flames of the fire. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink, is a quote I normally hear. This goes along with what Mrs. Annette said because we do not write rules and make them follow them but what we do is teach them and weave wanting to be with Christ into their lives. It is important for me to lay a good foundation for them to build upon because without a good foundation nothing will stand. We also need to remember our foundation which is Jesus Christ our Father and to stand firm upon him. We can also build a relationship with are foundation and show others through are actions. We should be like barnacles on a rock to Him. Then when we go to heaven we will be judged in our craftsmanship and how we changed others lives for the good. We need to remember we are not perfect and we will make mistakes but that does not change Gods feelings towards us. We need to be ready tobe Gods hands, feet, mouth, arms, and legs. That is what it means to me.
ReplyDeleteOh, our foundation needs to be strong
ReplyDeleteHow I understand your statement Mrs.Annette, is that when the time comes for me to leave this life for another. I hope that I had a strong foundation, who is Christ, as it says in (1 Corinthians 3:10-15). When someone dies that you know, you usually have a memory about him or her and you remember the good and bad, but mostly you tend to hold on to the good because it is woven into your life by him or her. That's what I really want is to have woven the good into people so that I can be remembered for the good I have done, but not for my mistakes. To be remembered you don't need an engraved monument, but all you need is someones memory or for them to be reminded by someone on the impact you had on his or her lives. And hopefully by the time my life comes to an end, I had a strong foundation in Christ, and hopefully I built it well and very carefully.
ReplyDeletePlease come to the meeting tomorrow with a scripture that you believe should be an overarching principle for our school year...and you will be glad you did ;-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome will do!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll do it to.
ReplyDeleteSC rocks
ReplyDeleteSpirit week was amazing
